Wild salmon connect us.

Wild Pacific salmon are the shared foundation of our food security, culture and identity. They sustain local economies and British Columbia’s environment from the interior to the coast. First Nations’ connection to wild salmon stretches back thousands of years.

But far too many salmon aren’t making it home and we’re seeing long-term declines in salmon populations. Many interception fisheries continue to take a disproportionate share. Poorly planned development degrades salmon habitat. A lack of coordinated monitoring threatens rebuilding efforts.
 
The good news is that we can rebuild if we unite behind wild salmon like never before.

  • We call for science-based reforms to domestic and  international policies to ensure safe passage for fish returning to their home rivers;
  • We call for management of salmon in the long-term best interest of ecosystems, communities, and future generations;
  • We call for fairness, transparency and accountability in all salmon management efforts.
  • We call for coordinated efforts to protect salmon habitat; and
  • We call for respect for Indigenous leadership.
